What Effective Dermatologic Care Can Look Like
Many conditions respond well to medical treatment — often without surgery. The images below show an actual patient treated at Associated Dermatology in Helena, Montana.
Skin Cancer Treatments We Provide
Electrodessication & Curettage (E D & C)
We gently remove the affected tissue with a curette until healthy skin is reached, allowing new skin to heal naturally. This is a less-invasive option with strong cure rates for specific cancers.
Surgical Excision
The cancerous area and a margin of surrounding tissue are removed and evaluated in our laboratory to ensure clear margins. Excision has a high cure rate and reduces recurrence risk.
Cryotherapy
Precancerous growths are frozen so the damaged skin flakes away and healthier skin can regenerate.
Prescription Topical Therapies
Precancerous growths are frozen so the damaged skin flakes away and healthier skin can regenerate.
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT / Blue Light)
A light-sensitive medicated solution is carefully applied to areas of sun-damaged skin and allowed to absorb into the abnormal cells. After a short incubation period, the treated skin is exposed to a specialized blue light that activates the medication. This process selectively destroys precancerous cells—such as actinic keratoses—while preserving the surrounding healthy tissue. Because the light treats the entire field of sun damage at once, it allows physicians to address large areas more efficiently than treating each lesion individually.
Post-Treatment Skin Care
We provide guidance and offer medical-grade skincare products to support healing, comfort, and long-term skin health following treatment.
